Grand Com ga Hai Nam – Garden Grove – (714) 638-1310, 9904 Westminster Ave, 92844
Located in the Mall of Fortune complex close to the Hong An and Binh Minh restaurants. This place specializes in Com Ga Hai Nam (Come Gaah High Nam) which is chopped pieces of cold chicken still on the bone served with Vietnamese salad/herbs and ginger fish dipping sauce. Not my favorite because the chicken is tasteless and cold for my Americanized palatte, but the Com Ga Xe Phai (Come Gaah Sair Five) is quite good which is shredded chicken with herbs tossed in a tangy sweet vinger sauce and chicken broth cooked rice. I tried the Pho Ga Kho (Fahh Gaah Ho) which is dry Pho Ga but it was tasteless and I wouldn’t recommend it. Go for the regular Pho Ga soup not the dry version if you want to try the soup here.

Yen Thy Bistro – Westminster – (714) 898-9889 – 9030 Bolsa Ave #101, 92683 (Behind the 7-11 store)
One of many French-Vietnamese cafes in Orange County serving French influenced Vietnamese food like steak and wine chicken. Located in the former place of well-known french/viet Tai Buu restaurant. Nothing particular stands out as awesomely good but not bad either. The Com Ga Xe Phai (kum gahh sair fye) shredded chicken & rice here is good but a little on the sweet side, they must have a heavy hand with the sugar. I also like the bamboo shoot and chicken noodle soup cause it seems healthy but a little tasteless for those who don’t like bamboo shoots which is an acquired taste imho.

Quan Vy Da – Westminster (714) 531-2905 – 9950 Bolsa Ave # B, 92683 (corner of Bolsa & Brookhurst)
Com Ga Dat Biet (Gum Gaah Dock Beak) – Chicken with Rice Special. Shredded chicken seasoned with salt and pepper, mint herbs, vinegar and rice cooked with chicken broth, served with ginger fish sauce. A light and healthy meal. Quite a few people like the Bun Bo Hue (Boon Baw Way) here too. The Ban Beo (Bun Bail) is served in individual little dishes and is tasty too.

Also well liked for their Com Phan (Gum Fung) – Com Gia Dinh (Gum Ya Din) Family style meals – usually with Rau Muong (Rao Moon)- spinach-like salad, ca hap (Ka Hup) – fish crispy and in a caramel sauce, Goi Cua (Goi Cool) – crab salad. Thai-Vietnamese food
