Com Tam Tran Quy Cap – Fountain Valley (714) 418-1333 – 16175 Harbor Blvd, 92708 corner of Harbor & Edinger Ave (In Smart & Final Parking Lot)

Ban Hoi Ga, Bo, Thit (Bun Hoy Gaah, Baw, or Tit), Bo, or Thit – Flat rice noodle sheets with Chicken, Beef or Pork. Served with peanuts and green onions. Com Tam (Gum Tum) is also good and Com Suong Di-han (Gum Soong Die Han) – Korean Barbeque with Rice is served on a sizzling hot plate. Ca Salmon Xi Dau (Ka Salmon Si Yao) – Fish Salmon with Soy sauce served with white rice and salad.

Com Tam (Gum Tum) – translates to broken rice. A filling meal of rice with delicious grilled meat or seafood, served with pickled vegetables, sometimes with egg-foo-young patty or a fried egg. Drizzle the fish sauce all over and you’ve got a pretty tasty rice dish.

Au Lac – Fountain Valley – (714) 418-0658

Mon Chay (Mong J-Eye) – Vegetarian food. This place serves traditional Vietnamese dishes with imitation meat and seafood. The soy beef/chicken/shrimp tastes very close to the real thing. Popular with American vegans. I like the Soy Beef with Watercress, Bo Luc Lac, (Baw Luke Luck) at the Au Lac place –  the watercress is an acquired taste but the soy beef is very tasty.
